Hopefully you just need a new battery, but before you buy one, disconnect the battery cables clean the cable ends and the battery posts.
Then charge the battery. A large percentage of problems are from loose cables that allow corrosion to build up between the post and cables.

I didn't have the rough running but I did have the "stranded" bit last year when my battery bit the dust. Was running perfect and then wouldn't restart. A load test showed it pretty quickly.
Is your bike fuel injected? I sucked when I had to call my neighbor and have him trailer me home. (He rides a Kawasaki. )
Have a good one,
Dave

Just pulled the seat off and the cables are tight. The battery is on the charger and will see if it takes/holds a charge. The battery is less than 2 years old, but the guy I bought the bike from bought it at Walmart, so hopefully, its the battery. I ordered a new one from J&P last week and it is supposed to be here tomorrow. I doubt I do anything to it until next week, but at least I still have my Heritage Classic to ride. I will update when I find something out.

did the check engine/battery light come on? if you pull the inspection cover to the primary, smell it..if it smells burnt, proly stator. like others have said, check the easy/obvious stuff first though. hope its an easy fix

Look on the bright side: finding and fixing this problem will make your bike truly yours. If it's not a bad ground (did you check both ends?) I'd pull the inspection cover on the primary. The stator will let you know right away if it's fried.
