I am buying a backpack stove that uses butane propane cannisters. Stove is cheap, fuel is a little pricey. You can buy them at Just Camp in downtown Tulsa. Stove will fit in your shirt pocket, cannisters are about 1/3 the size of a Coleman propane tank.

In Afghanistan I used an electric tea pot and Starbucks Via. Via is much better than the brewed coffee we could get (or most of what you get here) and that would cut down the crap you are trying to carry by many pounds. You can also just shake the Via up in a bottle of water and drink it cold, or get the Iced Via.

Lots of good info here. You just need to figure out what works for you. The only thing I strongly disagree with is carrying any kind of fuel in a plastic pop bottle. Go to any camping store and get an aluminum fuel bottle, they come in a couple of different sizes and they're designed for fuel.
