Idea On Getting Boot Rubber Off Black Pipes
Thought I would pass along an idea that I had this evening……. My black Big Radius have built up some of the rubber from my Doc Martins and I have been at a loss for how to get it off without scratching up the delicate black finish.
I just tried taking my butane soldering iron that has a tip that’s like a little torch and burning off the rubber and taking a terry cloth and wiping it after the rubber heats up……. Actually worked fairly well. I didn’t get all of it, but it’s much better than before. Not sure if it would work the same on chrome pipes, but seems to have not damaged the black finish.

EDIT: oops... I just reread your post and noticed you have black pipes...my fix is for chrome.
Easy Off oven cleaner.
Run it for a minute to heat the pipes up,,,spray it on...wait a little while...wipe it off.
Just bbe careful what you get the easy off on. Keep it off painted surfaces etc.
I usually spray it into a small container and dab it on.
