The stand itself is fine, but the shaft that goes through the wheel was not totally straight. This did not effect balance a lot, but some. I wound up buying a shaft from NOMAR Tire changers but used the Harbor freight stand. I should have bought the balancer from NOMAR.

Although I haven't use that particular item from Harbor Freight, I think of them as the Wal-Mart of the tool world, most of their products are imported from China, quality is hit or miss, most of their stuff is ok for the occasional handy man, but I wouldn't put anything they sell in the professional bracket.
I've picked up tools and miscellaneous hardware from them, some of it was good, some of it marginal at best....

I'd just approach anything from there with caution, and look it over real closely before buying.....

I would get a Nomar IMHO, they work pretty good. That one looks kind of cheap.

I just use 2 jack stands and the bikes axles sitting on them. Work fine for me and the price was right.

there was recently a discussion somewhere on this forum (maybe not this group though) that went into great detail about using the harbor freight balancer...do a few searches around the forums..you should be able to find it..

+1 .... If you call them on a land line the phone rings in India ... trust me ... it's tough to speak with someone who speaks the same language as you do and you can't understand a single word they are saying.

I bought the HF one but wasn't sure the cones were right for my bike. Then I considered getting the higher priced nomar unit. In the end I put dynabeads in it and called it a day.

I used one to true my wheels that I built over the winter. I had a 20% off coupon so it was like $40, which is what the local shops wanted to do one wheel. Just like others have stated its not pro quality but it worked fine for me. Also I used dyna beads, but I think it would work fine to balance also.

This is what scared me off.
Can be used with our Ducati, Harley Davidson, and BMW adapters (sold separately)
