Here's one - way back when
My x GF ordered a new Jeep for about $18 K
When it came in she went to pick it up with her dad, her dad added up the figures on the paper work ... some how the salesman had incorrectly added the total amount of sale WRONG and it was over by exactly $1000
F'in salesmen !
and then they offered her a dealer credit toward future service

I went with an ex gf to look at a used FatBoy she wanted to buy. She only calls when she wants my advice on buying a bike. Oh yea, she neglected to tell me her bf was getting out of prison after we dated for 5 months.
They gave her the price, looked at her sporty and gave the trade in value, she had me review the paperwork.
$9,200 for the FB, $2,300 for her Sporty, and dealer prep of $995.
I just smiled and told her it was a good deal....

I believe HD charges the dealer $380.00 for the delivery of the bike from the manufacture location to the dealer (no matter if it is 10 miles or 2000) within the lower 48. With that being said, the dealer will try to pass that fee on to the customer. The dealer knows what its bottom line is and depending on the market, may be willing to eat the fee.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the total OTD price paid, regardless of the breakdown.

I paid zero for freight and assembly and 5% off what they were asking for. I went in knowing before hand what they would try and charge so I was prepaired. I also went in with a pen, paper and a calculator and crunched the numbers with him. He was surprised and impressed even though I kinda felt nerdy. A few years earlier i was charged all kinds of fees for a used car at a dealer I felt so ripped off so I wised up the next time.
