It's all based on humidity and temperature. If it get's below 70 leather jacket goes on.

A good armoured (important feature there) textile jacket will work quite nicely so long as your moving. Obviously if you stop for prolonged periods it does get hot. I wear my textile when the temps are up (80's+) and leather for cooler rides.

For very warm weather, I wear a Hein Gericke ventilated lightweight leather jacket. In the greatest heat I'll leave the front zipper most of the way down, so the wind fills it and flows through. Have been down at 55 mph in an identical 1. That's why I still wear this.

What are you looking at? I don't see any helmet in his pic. Just some tassles.... Maybe he wraps those around him for protection....

temps < 70 leather Jacket, 3/4 helmet, full finger gloves.
temps 70's - low 80's long sleve and vest, novelty helmet or 3/4. full finger gloves.
mid 80's - 90's vest over t-shirt, novelty helmet, fingerless gloves.
mid 90's+ t-shirt only, novelty helmet, fingerless gloves.
steel toe boots all the time.
gets hot here in so cal. wish I could do shorts, but a bad burn to my right calf made sure i'll never do that again.

and before you start lecturing me, yeah I know novelty helmets are a bad idea, and so is riding in a t-shirt only, my mother tells me the same thing. I don't listen to her so what makes you think i'm gonna listen to you.

I have a couple leather jackets. I also bought a Cortech textile jacket with panels and liner delivered for less than $100. My warmest in the cold and coolest in the heat jacket. Plus with the wide shoulder panels and tapered waist on it, it has a great look
