After doing a lot of reading I went with the true track.


Today was the perfect day to try it out. Winds gusting to 38mph so I ran the highway (freshly gound) for a few miles then the back roads loaded with tar snakes.

I was shocked at the difference. No more wallow. Tar snakes dissappeared unnoticed. The ground asphalt rode like a bad road. (no following though)


slushtail feeling is gone.

Of all the things I put on my '06 RG, the stabilizer was the best.

After I put it on, I could feel the engine and transmission trying to move, but the bike didn't wobble anymore. And before I added it, I was getting pucker-up type wobble at the speed limit on long bends on the freeway in everyday-type riding. Every day on the way to work.

I have no dog in this fight, so this is just an observation. Some of these steering stablilizers hang below your tranny. Others don't. Harleys are low enough the way they are without making it worse.

Check out the Progressive Stabilizer link and compare to the one you are looking at.

This IS a real problem, at least it is with my 07 Streetglide. The guy who said he has no high speed turns where he lives, has he never hammered it on a long onramp onto a highway? Riding slow and mellow is one thing, but denying this issue exists is just wrong.

Just bought a true track for my '95 RK and it fits my '07 SG too. The RK has a noticeable case of rear steer above 60, and that's riding straight and level. Will post results after I get it installed and road test it.

My 98 Road King did feel a bit squirrly when running over tar snakes, grooved pavement, etc. No "death wobble" entering 80 mph corners or anything like that. Put on a "Missing Link" stabilizer and it did make a bit of a difference. But it doesn't turn the bike into a Ducati.

BTW, the link doesn't lower ground clearance or cause any extra vibration/rattles/squeaks. All in all, an OK thing to have, but not something I can't do without.

all I can add is the people who say you don't need it don't because they will not see the difference in their style of riding so it is a waste of funds. , those of us that ride more aggressive will notice it immediately and its well worth the money. just depends how you ride really , there is no right or wrong

Ancient resurrected thread. But whatever.

I ride aggressively, live in the Rocky Mountains, and have even more miles on my 2010 FXD than my last post (long ago)....and if anybody wants to **** away money on this accessory...that's fine...but don't imply that it's inevitable that 'we just don't need it yet, but will...' It makes you sound like a company shill. These bikes handle just fine at high speed through curves if you don't ride like a nancy, i.e. too inexperienced to intelligently accelerate through curves.
