You've already got a tubed tire since it's a Road King right? I would repair the hole and get a new tube.

What the heck is a bedpan commando?

I wouldn't be afraid of a patch-plug and new tube, we seldom ride over 55 and mostly do 30-40 on county roads..

also agree if its over 1/2 gone I'd probably just put a new one on.

I tire wasn't quite half gone, but since I had the money, I went ahead and replaced it this morning. Now I don't have to worry about it and neither does anyone else....

Plugs work great on tubeless tires... the bigger black sticky ones weld themselves to the rubber of the tire. Never patch from the inside of a motorcycle tire... it breaks down the integrity of the cords.

HD shops will not plug a tire. Trust me as I asked a couple different ones a year or two ago. I had to keep tightening the screw up to keep the air in the tire until I finally got a Mom & Pop Exxon station to do it for me a few weeks after I found a screw in my new/less than 1000 mile rear tire.

While I don't necessarily share the perspective on the first part of your post (and ripping on Walmart, lol...), I couldn't agree more with this last part.

I will only repair a motorcycle tire to ride long enough to get to a dealer or tire shop and get a new one. I ride easy most of the time but do crank my bike past 75mph frequently. Don't want that **** in the back of my mind for $100 plus one hour labor. WTF, replacing one of my wheels in a blowout (if I don't go down) is $1200.

Same goes for the wife or kids cars...no plugs.

I've used the plugs twice before on a much lighter bike so I know they work, but I know some are also of a mindset to replace their tire right away. I was thinking of taking it to the dealer early tomorrow morning, but am leery of a bullshit line that it can't be repaired when it can (I didn't pull it out so I don't know how long it is). Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks....
It's really a sad day when this all started, such a waste. As long as there have been tubeless tires and the excellent plugs people like me have worn tires to the canvas and never had a problem on any vehicle. But for those who do not know the difference keep throwing their money away and wasting perfectly good tires.Or I will gladly pay the shipping costs.Wait, I do not need them, I run car tires!
