You're not the 1st. This is an all too common occurance around here. Usually from the wrong choice of bit style or size, but generally caused by poor technique. The use of some Aerokroil and an impact driver would have saved you some extra work (and a scratch).

+1 on the impact driver(hammer type).

it will pay for itself in short time.

Akllways tap on them first to break the seal on them....
And then replace with allen heads...

I hate torx fasteners! The person who owned my bike before me used torx bits on alot of the hex fasteners. I had to use hex wrenches and a hammer to reshape alot of the bolt heads.
I can understand the advantage over phillips screws, but what is the "advantage" of torx over allens?

Torx actually allows more torque to be applied than Allen hex recess. Most problems w/ these stem from using improper size or crappy cheap tools. Or, as stated in my previous post, poor technique.

Thanks for all the help guys...very useful tips! I will definitely invest in better tools and improve my technique in the future. Live and learn.
