You looking at the I-5 corridor or the Coast?
Late spring/early summer or late summer/early fall would both be ggod I would think.
Coast has less predictable weather than riding down the valley but you lose the scenic factor.
When you thinking of going?

How and when are you getting here (Seattle), and how long a trip down are you planning, and what sights do you want to see?
If it's the coastal route, I would suggest July-August because it is the most predictable for good weather from border to border, less chance of other "weird" weather like coastal fog which can chill you to the bone. If it's an inner route or one that bounces between the two, I would expand those months for sure. September is outstanding, no vacation traffic, etc.

We are looking at riding hard (500 to 600 mile days) to Seattle so about 2 1/2 days from home to there. Then we are planning about 10 or 11 days to San Diego. Haven't looked much at sights yet other than just enjoying the coast. I am sure that as plans progress there will be sights that we don't want to miss. Right now it's just determining the time of year for the best chance of good weather.
Thanks for the replies.

I would say anytime June- Sept. would be the best time for travel.

We still get a lot of rain up here in the NW in June. I would suggest July-Sept as the best time to do the ride. Even the first part of Oct is nice, much cooler but that can be a good thing. The NW can get very hot in the summertime. You can get weeks in the 90's and up. So be prepared to layer with clothing and bring the rain gear in the event of a little rain.
The coast roads are beautiful but it will double your trip time. Well worth it if you have the time to allocate for your trip. The Oregon Coast is breathtaking and very fun to travel. Washington is the same. CA has some areas that are full of switchbacks and Mt roads but well worth the time.
Sounds like a fun trip. Visit Latus Motors Harley dealership in Portland, Oregon if you get a chance. Nice place, friendly folks, also like the Coos Bay Harly dealer if you ride the coast.
