Skid Lid DOT is the best I've tried. and it's only like $39 or so. if it's DOT it is going to have at least some mushroom factor, but the Skid Lid isn't horrible.

Many of us have done the search for a DOT that doesn't look horrible . Take a look at these .

HCI 100 series is a comfortable, lightweight helmet that sits down low on your head. Check them out here http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Helmets/Half-Helmets Quick shipping and good to deal with the last time I purchased a helmet.

Take a look at the G-Max http://www.g-max.com/gmax/gm55S.html#

I just piked up a carbon one on-line for $70.00, it's a great looking helmet. DOT rated and minimal in size appearance. A bonus is the internal retractable face sheild. It just covers the eyes and when down almost looks like sun glasses instead of a sheild.

My head measures 7 1/8" and normally I wear a size medium but this helmet fit perfectly in a size small. They seem to run a little large.

I have one of those. It's not real low-profile, and maybe a little heavy after 3 or 400 miles, but it works well, noise level is not too bad, and the spring-down shield is very good in the rain.

LOVE my Daytona helmet!!! Someone else in this thread gave a link. When I bought it last year I did a lot of research looking for the smallest, lightest, DOT, and Daytona won. They actually make that claim on their website. BTW, I bought the carbon fiber skull cap.

Thanks for all the replys, alot of good info. Now for the fun part - getting her to make up her mind!!

I have been looking at Skull Crush helmets too. I know they are novelty helmets, but they claim to very strong. Does anyone have one of these or familiar with them? Do they have any padding in them or are they just a hard shell with nothing inside (hell I was born with that much)?

only $29.95? that's a great price for what seems like a decent DOT helmet.
