Default Anyone Know Anything About This Jacket??

Saw this jacket on Ebay for $400, did a search online to see if I could find it cheaper someplace else. The only places that seem to offer it are all overseas (China and Japan) for $175. Is it a "knock-off"? I know a lot of things get copied in China (Sport Jerseys, Name Brand Shoes, Golf Clubs, ect.)

I like the jacket but don't want a cheap knock-off. Any info would be helpful.

Looks like a discontinued model. Of course, most of Harley's clothing is made in China so they could have had some excess stock to offload.

TREK JACKET

I bought this jacket direct from manufacturer from China last year for £165.00which included shipping to the UK. The jacket is exactly as the same jacket currently for sale in my nearest dealer for £460.00 and as far as I can tell is NOT a knock-off/lower quality product. I made sure I knew exactly the correct size to order before purchase.

When it arrived I couldn't be happier.
Fantastic quality jacket which is functional/comfortable and stylish.

I made sure I payed with Paypal when I ordered.
Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company I purchased from as it is a few months back now.

My daughter works for a major manufacturer of childrens and pre-teen clothing here in the USA. Everything is designed here in the USA but is manufactured off-shore. The manufacturer most always does "pre-manufacture" of these garmets often numbering in the 100s of units for approval before final production and then after approval there is almost always significant overruns in the production. The actual manufacturer is free to do with whatever they want in disposing of the overruns, including offering them up for sale on the internet. This jacket could very well be the actual jacket ordered by Harley for sale and be from an overrun after the product was "discontinued" by Harley. Most likely the same quality but could also be a "second" (ie did not meet quality inspection by Harley and therefore rejected). You never know for sure.

I know I would be beyond pi**ed off if I found I bought a "second" or reject for retail. Lots of people are either clueless, or or hoping you are. I would just as soon pay to buy it local so I would have a reputable local source to return to if it had problems. Helps keep our money in the community as well.
Good on you for coming here to ask.
You have answers from two continents to confirm product and cost.

I can get the Harley ones from a dealer for less (and wouldn't) - with the way the asian companies like to sell cheap knock-offs and not worry about trademarks and quality and such, there's NO WAY I'd pay even $100 for that jacket. Get a real jacket somewhere - heck, I just say a USA made Schott Perfecto 618 in my size on Ebay, new with tags, and I think it sold for around $200 or so.

A Schott 618 is HH. Have not seen one go for $200 in normal sizes. If so that's very very rare. Not the norm. Can you get a decent jacket for two bills on ebay, you bet. At the same time be realistic.

Thanks for the info and opinions. Even the 2 that are listed on Ebay were from overseas (1 in China, 1 in Japan). Going to keep looking around, I like the looks of it. Because I'm in Northern Ohio I still have a few weeks before we will get any consistent riding weather so there was no hurry on it.

I knew the members on here would have some answers and opinions. Thanks Agian.

The Schott "618" is steerhide. The "618 HH" is the horsehide version. There is also a "618V1", which is a vintaged leather jacket.
