Check out this new vest by Fox Creek:



This vest just came out TODAY (I was on their site yesterday and it was NOT there). Now there are more options for a vest in this style, and it's about $100 less than than the one from Lil Joes, yet likely rivals them in quality. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't have a one-piece back, and I wish it came with the option for a zipper instead of buttons.

Fox Creek doesn't hide where the inspiration for this vest came from, but they are calling it the "Leather Rebel Vest".

Just curious. Is a leather vest supposed to provide (worth while) protection while riding or are they just for looking cool and a place to put patches and pins? Serious question.

 

That is nice. The price says it 'starts' at $199. Maybe you can upgrade the snaps to a zipper for more money.

 

Serious answer.....both. I'm assuming you meant vest, not jacket. Vests were originally worn so that if you go down it'll protect your skin....and to put all of your cool patches, etc on.

 

It has to do with size. Sizes 38-46 are $199. It jumps to $219 for sizes 48 and up and makes another price jump at size 54...etc.

 

A vest gives one a great way to carry a handgun. A vest is very useful if one rides with an untucked shirt. A vest provides pockets to carry some of ones gear. A vest provides an extra barrier between the rider and insects/rocks. A vest will even give some protection to ones torso in the case of a slide.
Looking cool? Only if one already looks cool sans vest.
