S.I.P.D.E. Live it ! !
I've noticed ALOT of riding questions regarding ho to know what to expect when riding under conditions regarding heavy traffic, intersections, what cagers will do next, etc., etc., etc...... I've practiced and executed this procedure alot of times and it pays to know it.
Well for those of you who haven't taken a riding course there is one thing you will have to memorize:
S: scan ahead. See what dangers you may encounter.
I: identify anything that may pose a threat.
P: predict what may happen.
D: decide what safety maneuver you should use should a problem arise.
E: execute the safety maneuver to avoid trouble.
LIVE IT. Your life and your passengers safety depends on it.

Actually, the new MSF classes shortened it and changed it to S.E.E. (scan, evaluate, execute). At least around here they did.

The total process includes:
I: identify anything that may pose a threat.
P: predict what may happen.
D: decide what safety maneuver you should use should a problem arise.
Your Evaluation process involves identifying, predicting, and deciding just a shorter way to remeber it.
It could be S.I.P.D.E. is the way I learned it, about 6 years ago, but this procedure works for me. I would suggest try both S.I.P.D.E. and S.E.E. to decide which works best for you. Either way it's something that riders need to know.
I did a Google search for S.E.E. and found nothing regarding it but I did find the following links:
Here's a good way to get more out of the learning process:Advanced Motorcycle Training
