Default Gas Mileage

I checked the gas mileage on my 2010 FLTRX today and was surprised to find out I'm only getting 31 miles per gallon. This bike only has 500 miles on it so maybe it will get better. I'm running the Vance & Hines Power Duals with Screamin' Eagle mufflers, the Ventilator breather, and the Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner.

Here is the breakdown: 3.6 gallons to do 112 miles.

I don't know much about the Screaming Eagle Tuner, can it be set up for economy? If you are riding in city traffic though, the mileage doesn't seem to be that off.

That was just normal all around riding on mainly back roads. I did run the autobahn today though for about 15 miles. The engine break in recommendations said not to go over 3500 RPM's which put me at around 95 mph so maybe that has something to do with it. I forgot about that autobahn test run!

Figuring gas mileage for 112 miles is completely meaningless. You have to average it over many tankfuls. There are just too many variables, like: how close to the fuel fill, temperature, fuel quality, ...

Agree... you need more than a few tanks. I've been tracking mine religiously since I bought it new in June, 2010. I don't have the exact figures in front of me, but my mileage is approximately 37.5 mpg over 8,990 miles. This includes a lot of 2-up riding, and a fair amount of in-city traffic. I wish it were a bit higher, but I do like to crank the throttle on occasion.

You are not alone, I'm running a SE Ventilator intake, Jackpot headers and mufflers (comp. baffles) and SEPST and it averages 33mpg. I am not an aggressive rider and it's not running too rich.

How cold was it outside when you tested it? You will get worse gas mileage in cold weather.

That's a good point, it was a little chilly out today. Somewhere in the mid 40's.
