Default Difference between dimpled and non dimpled bars?

Im in the process of buying bars. I can get the bars with OR withour dimples. I guess with dimples u can use stock controls...??

Can someone help me out with this one? What controls can you run on non dimpled bars?

Non dimpled bars have to be wired internally. So if you plan on running your wires outside of the bars you will need the dimples. The dimples are there to allow your wiring to have a place to exit your control housings, otherwise they would not fit and would get crimped by a NON dimpled bar.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks for that.

So can I still choose to run my wire internally with dimpled bars? Or is that defeating the purpose?

I think I still want my stock controls and ill drill a hole for the wires.

correct me if im wrong

You can run stock controls on either dimpled or non dimpled handlebars. If you're running internal wiring, get dimpled bars. The dimple allows a smoother transition from inside the bars to outside the bars and into the control housings. It looks like little notches next to the holes where the wiring comes out. The wiring sorta rests in that notch, which allows you extra room inside the switch covers. Without the dimpling, you'll fight to close the covers, especially the ones on the throttle side, over the wiring and probably nick one, (which I did). It's hard to explain without seeing a set.

Non dimpled bars are a straight up biatch to run internal wiring in. Trust me, I lived it with the bars I have now (non dimpled).

I always thought dimples looked good on some women.
