Cruising about 60 on two-lane county roads.

My 97 Dyna Wide Glide and I can go all day at 75. We've done it for many, many days with no problem. Feels good and sold at that speed too.

ORIGINAL: Biggol

I don't like the buffeting I recieve 65+ and haven't bothered to cut the windshield yet or look into wind deflectors.
This is mainly why I prefer cruising. I feel like a parachute above 65mph. Seriously, I have to force my feet on to my forwards at that point. They won't just sit there, ya know? I've done a 300mi trip on my Dyna along the coast and it was a workout with the constant onshore blowing in on top of the wind I was already creating.

Also, I live in L.A. and have two young kids. The freeway is always jammed and I rarely have an opportunity to take the bike out other than my commutes (which are on surface streets). So, I don't really get a chance to open it up much.

Two lane roads at 50-60 mph. I prefer the curvy sceinic routes. Over 60, the wind and noise tend to take away the fun of the ride, thus I avoid interstate freeways whenever possible.

Depends on where I'm riding, 45 to 60 is a nice range for getting around the valley. When I'm riding the canyons 45 is about as fast as I need to go to enjoy the curves and the scenery. I've had mine up to 90mph for a short stretch, the buffeting took all the fun out of that.

I'm a 50 to 70 guy. Doing 50 on most secondary roads is a rapid enough pace to enjoy the twisties without over doing it. Now and then the road widens and entices me to push it a bit. If I cruise below 50 I wind up with cars tailagating me anyway. I hate that!
