Thanks , Checked all leads , ok. Was a new battery (Motobatt , high CCA ). When you say bypass the solenoid to isolate the starter , , whats best way to do this?

Compression is around 195psi.
I only bought bike awhile ago , think it still has orginal starter (1997).What are the Big Twin starters like , seem reasonable price on the web , also what kw would be recommended

Sorry to sound like an idiot , but my starter motor has the solenoid attached to it .Looking at most of the aftermaket one's for sale it seem the solenoid is part of the starter as a complete unit. Is this just the way they are manufactured now .
