HD warranty

I have found that the technical incompetence of the folks who work at the dealers and unfortunately at the HD Customer Assistance line and their Field Service Representatives is so poor that even things that are legitimately warranty items will not be covered unless you expend a tremendous amount of time and effort.Warranty my A$$! You might as well do what you want to your bike because no matter what goes wrong the fight you're going to have to engage in will not be much different.

I said voids the warranty on the engine, not the entire warranty. And if there's an engine warranty issue and they tear it down and find after market parts, they will deny the claim. If you disagree you can take them to court lotsa luck. I just bought a new bike, I'll see if I can find the actual wording of the warranty. I couldn't find it on the internet but I'll bet it's in writing aftermarket parts that increase the power of the motor void the warranty. I'm probably having the stage one done on my 2011. I'm going to wait until about July to make sure there's no warranty issues and having an indy do the work. I know if the engine fails for any reason after the work is done, basically the warranty on the engine is void.

Our dealer just did and now recommends the 551's cams in the sons new Street G.
Its still covered.
Reading in here for 4ys seems most have said that they have to prove that the part itself U installed is what caused the damage if problems occurred later.

Still does not VOID the engine warranty. A couple years back HD had a problem with the engine jugs that were porous from bad castings. One could have done the hottest cams, tune and head work without any CLAIM being denied for that failure.
Informed people do not use the word void as it is totally incorrect and ignorant to use. Again the only time a full warranty is voided occurs when a machine under warranty is crashed and rebuilt under a savage title.
When one takes an item in for warranty work, it is a claim against the warranty which is either accepted or denied.

They can write whatever they want into the warranty. Because the warranty is *NOT* a signed contract, it cannot supersede the Magnusson-Moss Act.

The dealers tried this same tactic when synthetic oil became popular. First they said the use of synthetic oil voided the warranty. Then when the MOCO came out with their own "approved" synthetic oil the dealers said use of any other brand of synthetic oil voided the warranty. Finally, it was Amisoil I think, that pushed the MOCO into writing a letter specifically stating none of that could void a warranty. The fault here wasn't directly with the MOCO. It was/is solely franchised dealers playing their customers for suckers. And I'm sure somewhere right now there's a newb standing in a dealership getting an earful of the same type of baloney . . .
