WHAT IS THE BAISLEY SPRING???

RE: WHAT IS THE BAISLEY SPRING???
The Baisley spring is a spring that has more tension to replace the OEM spring in the cam plate for oil pressure. It is made by Dan Baisley of Baisley Performance. It costs about $12 plus shipping. You can also use a shim made by Zippers for the same result and that is about $7. When I do my cam swap I am going with the Baisley spring.

RE: WHAT IS THE BAISLEY SPRING???
The "Baisley" spring is not made by Baisley but he sells a lot of them. The spring is actually made by Latus Motor Racing. The part numbers are LMR-002 and LMR-004. The LMR (Latus Motor Racing) would also indicate the manufacturer.
The -002 part is a 15% stiffer spring and the -004 part is a 30% stiffer spring. The spring is a replacement for the stock oil pressure bypass valve spring. It makes it hard for the oil pressure to overcome the valve and bleed it off. This in effect raises the oil pressure since less of it is going by way of the bypass.
The -002 spring is recommended for stock or street build engine and the -004 is for racing engines according to Latus Motor Racing.
The primary use of the spring IMO is to help keep the lifters pumped up when using a more aggressive cam. In a Twin Cam, about the only 2 things that rely on oil pressure is the lifters and the piston cooling jets. The rest of the engine uses oil flow more than pressure.

So... Does this increase oil pressure? Do we need to increase oil pressure?
Not sure I undertand what it's for...
