The wifey wants us to get an RV and do some traveling around the country. Aside from a toy hauler RV where you give up 8 feet of living space, what are the options? I've already told her that If I can't bring the scoot, it's a deal breaker. I've thought about a trailer RV with a pick-up tow vehicle.
but given the height of the pick-up bed it seems like loading anything bigger than a dirt bike would be a challenge.
I intend to purchase a travel trailer somewhere in the 24-27’ range, maybe around 4500-6000lbs, put my scooter in the bed and wing it from there. I’m guessing it could work.

Check out Blue OX. They have a system to put the bike in the truck. Works great.

I have a bike carrier that fits into my trailer hitch, 2". It was a heavy duty hauler but only holds 500 lbs. Not sure if they make them to carry more or not.

My brother and I easily pushed his Road King up and then down a ramp similar to the pictures above when loading and unloading it from his pick up truck. I wouldn't think twice about it if you had a ramp.

In the picture above, it would have been easier to back the truck into the driveway before loading/unloading to reduce the angle since the driveway is slanted.

We have a Kendon dual rail trailer that we
haul behind our 30' class C motorhome.
Another thing to concider...can you close the tailgate.?
I don't think you will be able to pull a travel trailer
with the tailgate down..

For what its worth I was in the same boat and maybe have a few tips that can help. We wanted to do some camping again and have something to take to the rallies, but wanted to be able to take the bike too.

I looked at toy haulers and for the money, you can get much more in terms of creature comforts and sleeping capacity in a travel trailer and still save a ton of money. The haulers just have not come down in price yet in my opinion to make em worth it, plus if you have a half ton truck they start pushing the towing limits once fully loaded.

I also looked at a couple of Pop-up/toyhaulers and they are pretty spartan even for a popup. Also most of the newer ones "Starcraft" have the space for the bikes in front and require them to be loaded from the side. I was not real keen about having the bike sitting sideways and taking all the road debris from my truck. There was another company it was either Fleetwood or Forest River that made one that had the pop-up up front and the deck was in the back, but for some reason they stopped making them, but again they did not have much in amenities at all and they are still around the 7-10 grand range used.

I looked at pickup campers and if you do not have a 3/4 or 1 ton you are very limited on space, number of people they can sleep and amenities with them as well.

We finally settled on a used 24ft Aruba travel trailer that comes in right 3600 lbs, so it works out perfect for us. Double bed up front fold down table and two single bunks kitchen shower etc..

I have a 04 F150 and it sits high so I plan on using a using a big boy or black window ramp. As for coming back down there is always someone else around willing to help ya out. :-) It is not like you are going to be unloading this in the middle of nowhere, it aint a quad. Also I believe the ramps are wide enough to have someone on each side and walk it down.

I used to load my 1200 Sporty into the bed with two skinny short ramps now that was not much fun because the angle was too steep which caused the bike to bottom out going into the bed. It always took two of us but we did it many times with no issue.

Good luck in your search took me about 4 months to find the right deal and make up my mind of what I could live with and live without.

Oh here is the website for the ramps

Fifth Wheel Camper with a bike trailer. As long as you stay under 65 feet in length it is legal in most states. Fifth wheels are much easier to pull as they distribute the weight over the axle. There are smaller models you can haul with a 1/2 ton PU.
