Default lower belt guard

I guess I'm getting bored and my brain is working overtime but,...Just how important is the lower belt guard ? I know the adjuster window is in it, and I'm sure it keeps some crap out of the belt. I think it looks a hell of a lot better OFF than ON. Dose anyone not run one? just wondering ,so don't start fighting or lose any sleep.

Haven't ran one, top or bottom for the past couple of years. No problems to date, knock on wood. But yes it does provide more opportunity for things to get lodged between the belt and sprocket...

I don't think the lower does a whole heck of a lot unless you ride on or near gravel. That being said I drive on a 1/2 mile gravel road just to leave my house! So I choose to add the chrome cover vs. ditching the ugly black part.

I say try it and see,the belt breaks because of a foriegn object then you will know for sure.I personally will leave mine on because of dirt roads and dirt on pavement in places.

I haven't had one on for years. Dirt/gravel roads, sand, even the occasional field with no problems.

+1. I removed my upper and lower about 6 years ago. No issue whatsoever other than looking 100 times better.

My chrome lower belt guards keep my upper chrome belt guards company. I am not sure that they serve some purpose besides ascetics. Don't spend too much time watching them so I really don't know just how well they do their job and what their job really is.

My upper one is chrome, lower plastic. I dont really notice it and it serves a purpose and it is much cheaper then a new belt if it keeps rocks and other crap off the belt.
