Had to take the lower belt guard off when I changed to a wider rear tire on the RK. No problems yet.

Since I have a chrome pulley, and a chrome swing arm, the chrome gaurds look right at home.

If you knew what a PIA it is to change a belt . . . Oh Jeez!
Even when the odds are really really low, that removing the belt guard would create or allow a problem . . . even the insignificant chance that removing the guard might allow a broken belt . . . . the downside just makes that belt guard stay right where it is. Might go chrome but won't go without.

Anyone who has had a Harley for any length of time can really appreciate just how darned cheap the MoCo can be if they think for even one second that it won't affect the sale of a bike (and even then sometimes I wonder). So if you believe that they wouldn't put a belt guard on that bike if they thought they could get away without it; you can bet your last $$ that it wouldn't be there!
