How many helmets does one man/woman need?

Are helmets like women & shoes, you just can't get enough of them? 
Stopped by to visit a riding bud of mine and ended up in his garage putzin' around and I noticed what seemed like a dozen or so motorcycle helmets laying about, not beat up ones either...some with Eagles, some with flames, some with roses and some with dames, etc. etc., some DOT certified and some overseas knockoff crap.
Is it the ..Oh look honey, this helmet doesn't go with my outfit thing?,
,I understand the need for an extra half or full face helmet or a whole family, kids etc. for different sizes but why would one couple need more than 2 helmets each is beyond me?

In Kentucky, we aren'tr required to wear helmets or carry ugly girls, so my helmets are really just for various types of bad weather.

I have many helmets through the yrs. I think the problem is, trying to get one that really fits well, especially half helmets. I finally found one, so the others collect dust. I also have a favorite full face, but never wear it unless it is really raining hard. But if I had to count them, I think I own 6 helmets.

a few on the shelve in my garage too
2 full face hjc helmets for dirt biking
1 black full face hjc for supermoto (my harley buddies call it stupidmoto)
1 carbon fiber non-dot novelty 1/2 helmet for the harley
1 dot 1/2 helmet for the saddlebag
thinking about buying a 3/4 helmet for the harley to reduce wind noise

C'mon man, I'll take the hit on t-shirts, but guns? You just cannot have enough guns. Don't forget to stock up on ammo too!
