Default floor boards

hi. i just bought an 03 ultra classic, and love the bike. the only issue i have with the bike is the heal toe shifter clearance. I wear size 13 boots, and am having problems getting my left foot around the crash bar fairing, to shift. my boot gets stuck part of the time while i'm trying to shift. Should i buy extended floor boards, remove the heal toe shifter, or is there a way to adjust the lower fairing to get more room? thanks for any information..

If I understand your description, I was having the same problem. What I did was get floorboard extenders (moved the floorboards out 3/4".) Then I got an extended shift lever from www.waltersworkshop.com to extend my heel shifter further back. Plenty of room and my size 12's fit just fine now.

I removed my heel shifter, took five minutes problem solved. Way more room for your foot. HD sells a decorative cap to put on it.

Heel shifter was one of the first things I removed on the last 3 bikes I've had. And I only wear a size 9 1/2 shoe. Just liked being able to move foot around a little more.

I have the same setup with no problems.
You can either replace your lowers with the newer style or trim yours !!

Here's a neat trick--don't remove the rear shifter, just remove the rear shifter PEG, then put a bolt through the rear, with an acorn nut on the front. Instant clearance, and you can still shift using the acorn nut as a peg.

The first thing I did when I got home from the dealers was to lose the heel shifter. Huge improvement and that chrome cap was only like 9 bucks.

I removed the heel shifter, and still had problems, so loosened the toe shifter, moved it up one spline, and retightened, now perfect. i have huge feet, and my boots wouldn't go under the shifter. problem solved!! thanks for all the advice.
