I used to run the Metzler's when they were $230 for a pair installed on the rims. I averaged about 11,000 miles on a rear. Priced my last set and the indy was over $360 with taxes and fees. I got the E 3's from Dennis Kirk for $200 shipped to my house. I am at 9,000 miles and they should be good for another 2-3,000 easy. Go with the 140 as it gives you more usable tread depth.

I need tires this spring, already decided on E3's. But when I go to their web-site, there are 2 listed. Do you go with the bias ply or the radial? And what's the difference?

17,000 on my first rear Dunlop E3 convinced me, as well as the exceptional mileage on my Elite 2's on my '84 Venture.

However, the HARLEY Dunlops were bald at 10,000.

Wow you got 10k on OEM dunlops? Most people I know are lucky to see 7000 miles.

Thanks for that.

My Indee told me that the last E3 I replaced had been on the bike for over 16,000 miles, and I was trying to figure out what mistake he was making. Maybe he was right, after all.

I really like E3s. I'd just put a new one on a couple of days before it got totalled.
