Are all full face helmets now designed by Luke Skywalker these days?

That's not as bad as some, still I wish they would have left the back side smooth. I had an HTC flip up years ago for snowmachining in Alaska. Maybe I'll start looking that over. They are handy for a quick chat.

You know I just don't buy that. Never been down with that helmet, don't even remember dropping it and it's still in good shape cosmetically, few minor chips on flat black paint. I don't wear it all that often, but I went to use it last season and it's just that either my head is getting bigger (even with less hair) or I bought it too small and it took me 14 years to finally figure that out.
I don't have any reason to believe it would be compromised. I think a lot of that talk started from helmet manufacturers who want you to upgrade every few years.
Some here have said plain janes are still out there... I've seen a few possibilities online but even they seem to have larger uglier than sin air vents, etc. I'd like to find a shop that actually carries a few basic ones in the Bay Area if anyone has a tip.

HJC has a SYMAX II helmet that is a modular. The helmet has a simple design and is not huge. The matte black is almost impossible to see the exterior modular style seams. The gloss black and white are very good also. When the chin bar is raised above the head(like when you get gas) it has one of the smallest spaces between bar and head. The eye port is rather large and interior is removable for cleaning.
The downside:
1- space from your jaw/chin to chin bar is limited(maybe problem with beard or large jaw) most modulars have a huge chin bar that distinguishes it as a modular on profile. This one does not have this problem.
2-fog, it will fog in cold weather and require shield to be open a little bit or anti-fog spray..again it will fog.
3-interior sun shield is not dark enough but is OK as an extra when using sunglasses .
Overall a good helmet for the individual seeking a modular at a reasonable price.

IDK, my Sparx helmet isn't too futuristic & for just over $100 I like the fit/performance.
