No problems at Camp Pen with apes and as stated above no longer need a reflective vest

Thought I read somewhere that you still need the vest at night, or at least something brightly colored and or reflective.

Its suppose to be a light colored long sleeve shirt, but I've never had any problems wearing black.

Likewise for MCAS Miramar if you're down in this area.
you guys have to wear the vest still? good thing to know. hopefully i don't have to come down there for any reason.

I was talking to an MP buddy of mine a couple of days ago. He told me that even if they see a bike with higher than legal apes, they never stop anyone for it specifically. But if the guy is committing another traffic violation and they stop him they'll ticket him for the bars too.

as gunnerb stated, each base follows the laws of the state the base is located. and by the way, i was at a base here in florida where a guy caught flack for his apes. well above his shoulders. he was at this base for training and going to another base (state). his bike was supposedly legal where he came from, but illegal per florida. my personal experience is bikes seem to get a much harder "look" than anyone else

All depends on the base and who's standing the gate. Normally they go off of the local law. If you're registered "out of state" and can prove that it's legal where the tag was issued you should be good to go.

yours and mine both. off topic a little, but if you're coming through pendleton be prepared to show your yellow card. i haven't been stopped recently, but in december i think i was stopped on a daily basis for documentation checks.
on topic, i had 16s on my old night train and i'm 5'10", they came just above my shoulder and was never hassled because of them.

that old saying "all it takes is one to screw it up for the rest of us" has been extremely true for us riders.
