Default Socal Style History Lesson

Being new to the HD world I am curious as to when the the Socal/Vicla/Old School look started popping up on HD's?

Obviously the look is derived from the old lowrider Schwinn's that rocked the spoked wheels, whitewalls and apes back in the day, but how far back was this style seen on HD's?

Thats suprising to hear. Usually CA is the trend setter. Do you know when this dates back to? Are we talking 5, 10, 20 years?

As many people that rock the style I figured someone would have some background.

I read about it a while ago... the surfer/ beach guys and their beachbars/style.... and then the guys on the mainland are adding their bling bling....

Hell look at some of the pics from the forum guys on this site who live on the islands... Those guys are slappen on 26"ers and modding their bikes nicely.

And the Hills of Tennessee also. I dig that look, just like alittle bit more black than normal. I remember when I was younger and living on the west coast in Cali, San Bernadino, and
Corona, that the Vato's used to have slick looking Bicycles. Im talkin about stretched out frames and Gold Flake paint and High Boy seats. Looked almost like you couldnt ride them if you tried. Now, I guess its transferred over to Harleys. Glad it did.

Yeah I seen quite a few sick bikes coming from there and a lot running big wheels! Getting some good ideas for a sporty one of these days!

I think your givin So Cal too much credit. Just a population of guys who like the same look. **** they could have seen it in Illinois. Posers.

Not sure about the rest of it but I think the Old School look was around 60-70 years ago. But they weren't calling it Old School then.
Illinois was usually a few years behind the trends but since this interweb thing got here we've been closing the gap. I've heard Iowa may be next.
