I think I remember seeing these types of bikes in Lowrider magazine around 1995. I used to work in residential treatment with a lot Hispanic gangsters in Northern New Mexico back when the Lowrider thing was huge-before the Fast and Furious look came along to seduce the young. They would let me look at the mag with them.

There would be pictures of car shows with tons of low rider cars, a few bikes, and very few lowered cholo-style Harleys. I think it's a direct handoff from the low rider car culture.

Have no idea what was happening before '95. I remember seeing bikes in Northern NM that were kinda cholo-ish, but not as low or as long of fishtails as what we see today.

My memory may be a litle hazy though.
