Me and my cuz went from Brockton Mass. to Cornwall Canada in one day. We left at 5:00 am got there just as the sun was going down, It was summer so around 8:00 or 9:00 pm. To the best of my knowledge it was just under 600 miles or dead on. It was about half by-way and half interstate, we wanted to stay on the bi-ways. although on the interstates in Mass and New York we hit we got both bikes into the 90-95 MPH range, he hit 100mph or higher a few times, not me I was happy at 90. My cuz likes the speed I dont like tickets, so we did not stay at that speed for extended periods but I can say that for a good hour or two, At some point in New York, we stayed at 85MPH. I thought at days end we made good time. We were heading to Bancroft canada. There was no way we were going to make it on one day. That ride for me was the longest day ride I have ever done.

Now, I am sure there are some iron butts out there, lets hear it. From where to where in one day.

I'm 458 miles from Sturgis. In '09, I drove out and got a beer and t-shirt, adding the Newcastle, Wy loop to give me enough miles for the SaddleSore 1000 Iron Butt . I went out on county and state roads during the day, and came back on I-90 at night. Left at about 6 am, and was home sleeping by 4:30 am the next morning. I sat out a nighttime thunderstorm for about an hour at Pipestone, Mn. Total distance was 1046 miles. I kept my speed at 70 mph or less, stopping for gas and a stretch break every hundred miles.

I have no desire to do another one.

I went from home here in Mohave Valley AZ (just ouside of Laughlin NV) to Algodones Mexico, back home, picked up one of my daughters went to Las Vegas (she was going to school there) and back home. About 900+ miles that day. I didn't know about the Iron Butt thing or I would have made a little side trip to get the 1K-N-1DAY patch. The worse part of all of it was having to have differant clothes for differant weather.
Left about 7am, got to Me-HE-co around 12ish had a liquid lunch. home around 7pm. Vegas and back by 12 midnight.

From my house to Nags Head is 445+- miles, depending on which way my wife and I
go. Usually we also ride on down to Hatteras Lighthouse, another 104+- there and back.
Then out to eat, and back. Total will be around 600 miles or so.

Looking back it was probably more stupid than crazy. NJ in March is still cold. In 04 I didn't have heated gear yet, I had a Harley fleece lined rainsuit overtop of a green army jacket. But I was still freezing after the sun went down. In Richmond Virginia after eating a late dinner is when I decided to keep riding. By the time I pulled into my driveway I couldn't feel my arms or legs.

After taking a 45 minute shower to warm back up I tried to go to sleep. That was the worst part. After staring at those white lines on Rt95 for like 20 hours straight I couldn't fall asleep. I would jump up off the couch (where I was trying to sleep) thinking I was still riding the bike and had dozed off while riding. Not an experience I would recommend to anyone.
