Even in my 20s, I would pull the plug at 400 to 500 miles, max. I 've always ridden for fun. When it's not fun, I stop and relax.

Left Milwaukee to Clarksville, TN. 595 miles in the rain. We got to Chicago and it started to rain and kept raining most of the day. It sucked but we wanted to get to Deals Gap for the fun.

we normally do several 600 mile days a year but last year on the way to Sturgis we did a little over 900 miles and I was VERY ready to get off of the bike.

Did a little over 1,000 miles in a day in 2007 on my 883C Sportster converted to a 1250.
Have done a little over 1,000 miles in a day twice on my Street Bob.
I don't mind the 1,000 mile rides in fact we have another one planned in May to ride down to Savannah Georgia from Portsmouth Virginia, get something to eat then head back. The one I did mind was the back to back 2,000 mile ride in 48 hours that we did last May. I finished it but damn was my throttle hand hurting for a couple weeks. I will never attempt something that stupid again... well maybe.
