I agree with you 100%. My FXRG is a few years old and I like it better than the new ones.

i was at a harley dealer the other day, they had a leather coat on the clearence rack,it fit me great,it would of been $100 after the discount,i passed it up because it only had a small emblem on the chest..the rest was plane and boring black..it looked like something from wilsons or the jcpenny catalog..the wife bought a really nice coat for $145. black, orange, and white, huge bar and sheild with wings on the back

Not a fan of the logos either.
I have a Harley Jacket and I went down at 50mph in it. It's got only light damage at worst...a broken zipper, some of the pipping on one of the sleeves is coming loose, and a dime sized scuff mark on the logo on the back. It was "distressed" looking to begin with and now it REALLY has character. It's pretty thick leather, has a mesh inner liner and even has pockets for elbow and shoulder armor...which I've put in from my old jacket.

I'm not a big fan of most of their logos but this one is pretty cool. Can't find a picture of it anywhere. It's the top half of a skull (no lower jaw) with wings behind it. The name Harley-Davidson is in a "top rocker" over the skull and overlapping the wings and the word "Motorcycles" is in a lower rocker just below the skull. All this is in dark colors that blend with the jacket itself. I had never seen it before I bought it and haven't seen it since. Hence why I like it.

You mean like the 1 pictured a few posts back? (post #109)

Edit to add:

Don't be silly enough to believe these better quality (~$450) HD jackets aren't heavy enough leather. IIRC my LG w/o liner weighs 6-3/4 #. Moco calls it medium weight. I have been down @ 55mph, wearing a much thinner jacket of a different brand, so feel I have a bit of 1st-hand experience and knowledge w/ which to judge. Nearly 7 pounds of leather between you and the pavement is a good thing. Anybody that knocks these just doesn't know.

I agree 100 % . Way too damn tacky. I really get disgusted looking through the racks for a jacket, leather of texttile, that doesn't have Harley Davidson or the other crap on the back.

I don't mind the logos...some of them look pretty cool. I like a few of the jackets but agree they are overpriced

Back in the mid eighties and early nineties the MoCo produced and sold some pretty decent leather jackets. The jackets were well priced and made from good quality leather, needless to say they were most likely produced in the US of A. These jackets were fairly plain in design but looked right, they had that certain HD bad boy look about them. Where as the new Jackets look like they are designed to be worn in a Philipino bar (not that I have been to one).

Harley Davidson has traditionally designed `A Peerless Product', now it looks like they are attempting to produce a product that appeals to a Japenese `Wantabe Harley' bike purchaser.

They can't fix it, if they (the MoCo) don't understand what we think and want. For the love of God bring the old designers back out of retirement and get the brand back to where it belongs.

Cheers

No, nothing like that. The skull isn't the Willie G skull, it's a more "realistic" looking skull. The colors are very subdued almost matching the jacket itself, and it has wings. I'll try to get a picture of it to post. I've done a search for it online and can't find it.

I did have "help" testing my jacket. Idiot in an SUV decided she wanted to be in my lane because it was moving faster and hit me from the side. Slid 75' before coming to a stop on the should. Seriously the jacket looks like I got it caught on a nail and spilled something on the little spot on the back. It was a gift so I can't complain.

EDIT: Found it but the picture is crappy.
