Wife finally decided she wants to get on the bike with me...

first, figure out if she was scared of riding, or scared of riding with YOU. That will show you how to proceed. And if you don't see how it could go wrong, keep looking.

Start with short trips with a good stop like a cool resturant or something that she likes. Then build to longer trips rather than started with an endurance test for her. Seat and sissy bar will go a long way.

My wife used to like being a passenger. One day in 1981: Stopped at a red light; light goes green; pick up truck coming into intersection looks like is not going to stop; Truck hits car next to me who didn't pause like I did.
Wife asked me to go straight home and has never got on the bike since.
I do miss her, but on the other hand, she has no objection to me riding. In recent years, I do at least one major trip a year - this year, Peru and Bolivia! Of course, she does the same - usually France or Italy with one of the kids.

For a month the only thing the wife would do is sit 2 up in the driveway. Then she said take me around the block, then in the neighborhood for an hour. Now I cant get her off the thing. She doesn't want hers as of this writing but you know how women are. Never complains except at the dealer to sell me a new Ultra Limited. Some of us have it rough.....lol

It was nice being able to have a conversation WHILE going down the highway ... at 70Mph.

My wife rode when we were dating about 30 years ago then would never ride while the kids were small. When they got older she got back on and was bored, at 53 took the MSF course got her own and now rides as much as I do.

This thread is very encouraging to me. I just picked up my first HD, a used 04 heritage with 7000 miles. I have yet to ride it except in the parking lot while dropping it off for winter storage. I hope that after I get proficient at riding, she will want to try. It will be a while, but hopefully someday.
