Sad day..
#12
I always lock fork, ignition and set alarm. Have never had the alarm go off...knock on wood. Then again, I left my camera hanging on the handlebar in Milwaukee at about 10AM....it was still there when I got back to the bike at about 11PM. Mind you, there were a few photos on it that I never took. Some goofy guy took a whole 360 degree set and took a few photos of his smiling face and flashing thumbs up.

That friggin sucks, dude. But that's not the worst that could've happened. The scum wad could've nailed you with a piece, driving away and leaving you for dead. Least you're still breathing to ride again.
I personally don't know if I could own a Harley if I lived in the U.S. - the constant worry of having it stolen while traveling would drive me nuts. Here in Japan, the only place you really need to worry about your bike being stolen is in some parts of Tokyo. I've never had to really worry about locking my ignition in Japan, unless I park it overnight somewhere. Misplace or forget your wallet somewhere with $1k (or yen equivalent) in it and you're almost sure to have it returned. That's one real nice thing about living here.

It just FEELS like it's the worst thing that can happen.
I lost a Road Glide, too. It was totalled. Hit-and-run. I couldn't ride for months.
Hopefully, you'll get a new bike. I did. FLTRU. 103".
It seems really dark right now, but it WILL get better.
But, to tell you the truth, I'd probably be madder if mine had been stolen than I was when mine was broken out from under me. At least I can tell myself that it was perhaps an accident. I don't think you can do that. So, yeah, scum of the Earth comes to mind.
You can get a new bike, and they're nice. It's not ALL bad. But, yeah, it sucks. Good Luck. It WILL get better.

I guess the first question would be, did you get the security system with the bike? Only a couple hundred dinero and second if you did, did you leave the fob near the bike? It's the only way I can think of for someone to pull something like that off so quickly. Bummer, just the same. I hope they catch the dirty bastard who did this!!!!
