Default Dealer sez no Extended Warranty for '99 SuperGlide?

If you've been following the saga ... the bike I have my eye on (that's 3+ hours away) "sold" yesterday, but the dealer says the deal fell through because the buyer wanted an extended warranty, and "we can't sell one for a '99"

Anybody KNOW whether that's BS?

Of all the reasons for a del to fall through, from my perspective that's the best possible reason. I just don't know if it's the REAL reason.

The Drama Continues. I should make a show for TruTV: Bike Buyers. Get the repo team to scream at dealers and salespeople.

over 10 years old... not warranty eligible.

you couldn't buy a warranty for an old car either.

BS? Yes and No! You can probably buy an extended warranty from some place but it would be way to expensive! If you have your eye on an older bike,it has probably been checked over by the dealer. Ask for a 30 day warranty and
Buy your self a service manual!

No money to be made by a dealer on a warranty for a bike that old, plain and simple.

A bike has to be under a current factory warranty for an HD extended warranty to be purchased. A dealer warranty might be possible but that of course could vary wildly from dealer to dealer, anything from crazy expensive to 'no'.

Not saying this is right or wrong, just how it was explained to me.

I wouldn't expect a '99 to be covered at all, except for any warranty dictated by state law.

You get the Oklahoma guarantee, if it breaks in half, you still own both halves.

Extended warranty is a loss for most people, that is why they sell them. They are betting that the cost of repairs is less than what they charge for the coverage.
