I have a fatboy and the center stand squeaks slightly occasionaly. Do I need a grease gun to grease it? I have a tub of grease and read in the manual.I don't want to take the stand apart. Can I just put the grease on the spring? How have you done it? Thanks.

 

Center stand or jiffy?

 

I forgot to mention that i do not have a lift yet. So that would mean jiffy.

 

On my '06 Road Glide I have greased the jiffy stand.The jiffy will pivot along with the locking tab when used.This will expose an opening in the slot where the jiffy pivots.Place some grease inside that area with a thin flat screwdriver or something.It is easier to do while the bike is on a lift.Try to put grease in from the top and the bottom where the jiffy moves.Wipe of access.

 

Stick yer fanger up'n yer nose, then wipe it on the pivot part. It'll last as long as grease, and is lots more fun doin' when the straights are watchin' ya.

I don't ever have to worry about greasing my jiffy stand. My primary, despite all my efforts so far, keeps my jiffy stand thoroughly lubricated. [:@]

 

I spray clear chain lube on mine. You can get it in the right places with the extension straw on the aerosol spayer. It's also less of a mess when it starts to run. It's also heavier than regular lubricants and is designed to stick to the surface better.
