Best advice so far. Sounds like you already know what you want for a second bike. So get out there while you still can!

If you want evo, I would go FXR or a rigid bobber style with a springer. That give you a touring and a fun bar hopper (although I know a guy with an FXR that has 160k on it and has been to probably 30 states).

If I had the opportunity to get a second ride, I think I'd go with a softail or a dyna. Sounds like you need a good project bike that is within reason to finish in about 2-3 months. If you want a fixer, hit Craigs and eBay and when you see what you want, go for it!!!

I agree with bikerlaw. I would get something stripped down just for short trips around town, etc. I think it's awesome you have a chance for a second one. Good luck.

LOL, you guys are funny. Momma won't change her mind, she has always been the driving force behind the bike buying, and loves to go to the shop and get riding gear. She actually said it was a great idea, getting another bike for me to tinker with. She said, "you support my clothes/shoe hobby" so go for it. So time is no issue, I just need to find one that suits me and will end up being cost effective. I don't want to buy someones problem child.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

As for your 3 choices, FXST if you want a blank canvas with too many gray parts to change ((been there), FXSTC so you already have more chrome then the FXST & have less to upgrade, FXSTS if you want the cool looking springer front end in addition to FXSTC chrome.

FXST Day 1

Many days, months later & still different today.....

A problem child for the right price would be ok.Most of the bikes I get around have not been taken care of.Nothing big but alot of little stuff.

+1 on the FXR and build it for short hops since you already have the King. Build something you can really enjoy the twisties on.

if i had the ok for a second bike it would be an old shovelhead and i would build from the ground up, completely custom. i would take years to do it. once i get a nicer garage I'll do it.
