Any dark color bike is a pain to keep clean. My Limited is a true pain in the a$$. I decided to give it a bath once a week need it or not.

NO. I never had problem with black. Or red or blue or white or orange. All the same to me.

Not so bad really. Theraputic in a way and clean it up after each ride and gives me a chance to look closely if there are any issues that come up mechanically before they become a real issue.

Definite YES !!! I will never buy another. I am a detail nut and it drives me crazy to see the swirl marks and dsut on my bike all the time. I detailed show cars for years and there is nothing worse than black. I clay bar and use detail spray, micro fiber towels the whole nine yards and the finish still does not satisfy me after I am finished. I own a second bike ( Ultra Intimidator ) that is black also and it is not near the problem my SG is . I honestly think the HD clear coat being soft is the problem. Never buy HD black again.

Is it really all that bad or does it just require just an extra little touch or elbow grease with a polishing cloth or Swifter duster?

Are there ways to keep a black bike looking decent when out and around? Any tips or is it really the nightmare that many claim?
If you use lemon Pledge it repels dust, but it is a honey bee magnet

Depends on how **** you are.Either you ride or polish your choice. One of the reasons why never been big into too much chrome.Black is beautiful keep it however you feel comfortable, squeaky clean, and that not ridden look,or as clean as you can and a great patina.Good Luck

Yep!

They look great after a good waxing, but you'll inevitably end up with swirl marks at some point. Black is the best color for anything with wheels and an engine, so the extra cleaning time isn't a big deal to me. I don't wash mine that often anyway, it gets sprayed off with a hose every couple weeks, that's usually good enough.

Honestly whitewalls are way more of a pain than black paint is.
