Best, or just real good riding boots
#62
I have a pair of jungle boots purchased from a Nam vet who had them issued to him as his second pair. Brand new old stock, and most definitely authentic.
They are spike proof, meaning they are steel reinforced at the toes, heels and arch. (To counter spiked booby traps.)
At this point, I've broken them in with about six months of use.
The tread is indeed great for the road. But the steel reinforcement makes them fairly heavy boots that are not comfortable off the bike after more than a few hours. (Really makes you think what those guys went through in the field.)
There is also no ankle bone protection with the canvass ankle shaft.
Great boots to own. And I wear them on occasion on the bike because I like their history and look. My father worked for years in a pair as well.
But they don't hold a candle to my Frye Engineers when it comes to riding utility and comfort off the bike.
Just being honest.

I ride Jafrum Harness Boots--can't beat these for $69. No joke--comfortable and good quality, and I'm former Marine infantry.

I've got two pair of HD made-in-china boots, one pair of wolverine made-in-china boots and one pair of RedWings. The HD and Wolverine boots look like new even though I have had them several years. They look new because I never wear them. I only wear the RedWings. Best boots I have ever had!
Just did a 500 mile round trip on a Road King down to Galveston in the cowboy boots - comfortable AND tough!

I was just reading through this article tonight, but it's all for men's boots, not womens, unfortunately.
