Interesting Diagram of Where Most Helmet Impact Happen
#12
Interesting numbers but what is it based on?
Where did the statistics evolve from?
Who generated the information?
How many accidents did the author base his/her numbers on?
How did the collision occur (thinking impact area here)?
Those are just a couple of questions that readily come to mind. I am not for or against helmets or for the type chosen. But a pic of a helmet with percentages is just numbers and nothing more than that. And we all know that if was government funded that it would absolutely and positively be free of bias.

That's kinda bogus, anybody can put numbers on a helmet and say this is the most common point of impact............ is that a cross-sectional statistical analysis or from a longitudinal study?

When I wrecked, I hit on my forehead and then slid on my face on my 3/4 bell wit the snap on face shield. The shield stayed on. I still wear a 3/4 because a FF is too confining and creeps me out. Plus my nose is too big anyway.
But I think there should be a National Helmet Law with a $1500 first offense penalty mandatory...then a mandatory swift kick in the nuts by a really nasty State Trooper wearing steel toed boots made in China for a second offense.

Do FF helmets protect better? Of course they do. They cover more. Do cages protect you better than motorcycles do? Of course they do. They cover more of you. So by y'alls reasoning we should all drive cages because we should always go with the safer option.

1/2 helmets are more comfortable. If 20% of crashes have you landing on your face, well that's not going to change me. It's the chance you take. A full face helmet on a cruiser/tourer just does not work.

I have a full face sitting at home on a shelf. Hate the damn thing. Too confining. That makes it less safe for me. The only statistic that really conts is how and where you land after an accident. I would think the most common places would be either up front or square in the back of the head, depending on the landing.

My shoei full face is lazy, I can't get it to do anything.
Edit: I think my Bell got a job at McDonalds, though.
