Default Fat 16 or 17" wheel vs Skinny 21" handling?

Just wanna hear some opinions on this! all my Harleys ive ever owned had a 21" wheel on the front! Alot of times it snakes around in the groves in the road and you can feel bumps! Many of my freinds have Harley with the fatter Wheel tire combo on the front a swear by them they basically say that they handle the road better and dont snake in the lines and groves and make the bike more ballanced and its a smoother ride? any truth to this??

I know my FXSTC wanted follow every groove left in the road with the stock "ribbed" tire.
I put Metzlers front and rear and it no longer tracked every groove.

Night and day difference just choosing another tread pattern.

Thats interesting to know!! Harleys stock pattern sucks then! I would think size does still matters tho cause i never feel my rear 200mm kicking out behind me trying to follow groves.. but that might be different!

My brother put 21 on his S-G, front end became alot quicker, as far as cornering, and lighter feeling, he doesn't have a big eng., 110 SC, but again when accelerating out of low speed corners it is a little floatey, just doesn't feel as secure, try's to walk a little. You get use to it, but you do have to pay more attention when pulling out of parking lots ect, have to roll throttle on more so........IMHO

I have a 21" on my XL. It is affected by deep groves in the pavement and tar snakes are more noticeable. However, a 21" does allow for faster cornering.

I got a 11nrs vrod. I have a 120 on the front and a 240 on the back. It sticks like glue no front end wandering and grooves don't affect it. I have Michelin scorchers on it and they really hold the road good wet or dry.

The Dunlops I run on my Fatbob are excellent on any road, same for the Michelins my wife has on her Super Glide Custom.

Thinking its more the tire tread pattern than the size..

Put a bunch of miles on a wide glide with a 21", and a lot of miles on an FXR and a Sporty with the 19" and a lot of miles with a 16" on the 'glide.

Love the handeling of the 19" on the back roads, love the 16" on the highway, did not like the 21" really anywhere, it looked cool, looked better than the others that's for damn sure, but it would be the last wheel I'd run in terms of handeling.
