RE: Saw an accident today and....
Sorry to hear of the downed rider.
Here in AZ there is no law on helmets if your over 18. So the choice is the riders. I choose to wear. You choose to not wear, that's okie dokie by me.

I live on the Missouri / Arkansas line. MO helmet law.. AR no helmet law. I hate helmets! I have to make myself put it on and wear it 99% of the time. Read my post from a few days ago ( Bikes, Blues and BBQ ) in general chat and you'll see fluke things happen. Is my gal lucky she had her lid on? Who the hell knows??? It should be your choice..
Prayers for the down rider.

Orygun has a helmet law, in 76, I went down, HARD, 3 breaks in my right leg, all my ribs on the right side, collar bone, compressed skull, oh i was doing 40 hit a gouge in the road, threw me into the guard rail, hit my head on a guard rail post. I was on a 900 Kawasaki, had a Bell 360 helmet on, Dr told my wife, I'd be dead if not for the helmet. If you don't want to wear one, don't, but, don't ask me to support your family and pay your hospital bills for the rest of your "life"

I just thought I would say that I'm not pushing helmets.... I could really care less if you do or not and really don't care how you feel about me for wearing one. In fact, years ago, my father was diagnosed with cardio miopothy (bad spelling, i think). At the beginning of 2005, his heart was worn out and the prognosis was slim. He was placed on the heart transplant list and waited in Hartford Hospital for a few months until a heart was finally found. The heart came from a motorcyclist here in Connecticut that was killed in an accident. Without his heart, my father would not be here today... but he is. If you choose not to wear, that's you're choice. I just know that I have 4 children of my own that would be lost without me.

Do you know if your father's heart donor was wearing a helmet or are you just assuming that he was not? Many motorcyclists die in accidents while wearing a helmet.

I have no idea.... my point is that your chances of getting killed are far greater without the helmet than with one... and those stats are indisputable. Whether or not you wear one, it's up to you.
