I just found the receipt for the work done on the bike when the seals were repaired. It had 4660 miles on the odometer and maybe 400 miles later had the 5k service. It now has 6060 miles and the oil dosen't touch the stick. I'm thinking the seals were not the problem. The bike doesn't leak oil or smoke.
If the bike doesn't leak or smoke, where do you think the oil is going? It's got to go somewhere. If the valve guide seals where bad, the motor has got to be smoking otherwise, it would be leaking the oil.

If you can't SEE the oily smoke, just try wiping your finger around inside the exhaust. If you get an oily residue, you are burning the oil.
BTW..is the bike on the jiffy stand or upright when you check the oil?

Harley tech tore into the motor and found a bad valve guide and the piston rings on the back cylinder were turned the same way, allowing the oil to seap thru the rings. The shop manager replaced the valve guide seals earlier. He told me he checked rings and everything and put it back together. Anyway it's their problem now since I traded yesterday for a Road King Custom.

Any oil that's getting into the cyl while the motor is running is coming thru the bad valve guide and, is being burned. Hope you have better luck with the RK
