cams pistons race tuner on and on and i have never checked or cared, i know i am prob getting a little less because you`ll find you riding a little harder its so damn fun, who cares about gas mileage if you are worried about little things like that buy a honda 90 just for work

Depends on how you ride, and how much you twist the throttle....
I can get anywhere between 35 MPG to 43 MPG...
On long highway runs my built 95" WideGlide averages around 43 MPG..
Screwing around town that figure drops to the mid to high 30's, which is still a lot more than any of my 4-wheel vehicles.
Increased performance usually comes with the cost of decreased mileage.
Can't have both.

I don't remember the exact numbers (high 30's -low 40's/ city/hwy I think) when it come to the miles per gallon, but the milage did go down from the stock 88". I upgraded from the 88" to the 95" for improved touring power under a full load and the thrill for the low end torque when I wanted it. It delivers in both areas. But a lot of the time I ride conservatively because I do want to get good milage. When trying to get the best mileage I can, the 88" got better than the 95", but with the stage II 95", the mileage is still respectable.

95" with S&S 510 Gear drive cams, V&H true duel headers, SE mufflers, SE air cleaner.
My MPG varies quite a bit depending on how and where I ride. Loaded down heavy with camping gear, running a steady 80MPH (love those Texas speed limits) got around 30 MPG. Later, same trip, bike unloaded, just putting around on the back roads, averaging 45-50 MPH, got around 50 MPG.
Normal riding, mix of highway and surface streets, average around 40-42 MPG.

Another is that here out west there are places where it might be 100 miles between gas stations. It's important to know how far you can go on the gas in your tank.
A couple years ago I was riding solo across Nevada on back roads. Stopped for lunch in some small town. Had less than half a tank of gas Looking on the map, I saw another small town about 50 miles away, figured I could make it easy on the gas I had, so I didn't fill up. Got to that next small town and found a ghost town, the only gas station had burned to the ground years before. Now I had less than 1/4 tank, and the next town on my route was over 75 miles away. No way I could make it that far, so I had to backtrack 50 miles to the last town, fill up, then retrace my route through the ghost town to the next inhabited place. Good thing I wasn't on a tight schedule.
