Chaps in the cold weather?

RE: Chaps in the cold weather?
Below 65 and my chaps go on. I really like to feel the warmth of the sun in the spring, summer and fall, but in the winter its leather. Tim

Wear chaps for long rides regardless of the outside temperature. I prefer the added level of protection. On short trips around town on warm days, I will go chapless.

For you guys with the Firstgear leather overpants, how do you size them?
I assume they fit over your jeans, or other pants. So it I'm a size 30
waist, I'd go up 1 size for the overpants?
Thanks to everyone for all the help!

RE: Chaps in the cold weather?
In North Carolina, I ride year round. Problem is that it can be almost freezing some mornings in the winter. Thus, chaps with jeans from 40 to 50 degrees, below 40 chaps with insulated jeans. Above 50 just jeans. Typically, I draw the line when it's below 35 - concerned about black ice.
