I had one in the '70s. It was the best fitting, quietest, most comfortable lid I've ever owned.
Anyone know how the new Bell 500 compares? No one in my area seems to have any to try on.

 

Bell super magnum saved my life in 74. Wrecked my dirt bike lots of injuries. Helmet was destroyed my head did not have a mark on it.

 

Ya, they were Snell approved, I don't think anything short of full face gets Snell approval these days.

 

I do remember them as white and the premere helment back then.don't remember any color but white.Came with a sticker.

 

Had one in back in '78 riding my Kawasaki '74? KZ900. If I remember it had a pretty small opening. And yes it was white! lol! Don't wear a helmet anymore (I know, stupid me!) So I have no idea about new helmets!

 

that was a great helmet...used one for years. most of the big mail order superstores have the full line of bell helmets in their catalogs. do not see many in stores...mainly low end stuff, but they do have some top of the line helmets that are as good as anybody makes.

Yup, Bell 500 and Bell Star.

Back then a great company that made their stuff here in the states. Now just another importer of Chinese trash. And you would have to own one of the old Bell helmets to understand what I am saying

 

I agree. By the way, the Star was the full face with a small opening. The super mag was open face (3/4). Top notch quality.

 

Yes I wore Bell helmets back in the day. Also had one a few years ago. Not the same quality helmet. And for the record they are made in Korea now not China. I know its not much of a difference, but just so everyone knows.
