American Iron is 95% free advertisement, that you pay for. How many how to change your oil or spark plugs articles can you read?. Here's something to try, cut out all the useful tech articles out of the magazine, and look at what you have left.,,

A few magazines are delivered to my house, American Iron, Iron Works, The Horse and of course Easyriders. They are all entertaining and there are some good tips and ideas.

I gave up on the mags. Had subs for easyrider american iron and biker. Looked at the cost and figured ***** that. Tried BAGGERS??!!? That rag made me wanna poke my eyes out. I'll buy gas and beer instead. Lame assed rags.

I think it could use a little shake up to liven it up a bit.
Gotta agree. The Donny Peterson articles are good, and I sometimes enjoy the antique/older bike article toward the back of the mag, but get irritated at that, too. Why not tell us what someone paid for the old bike? It's always "..a deal was struck.." And sometimes there's little or no info on the bike. An article on a 1952 pan will start out with some crap like: "1952, Ike was in the Whitehouse, Uncle Miltie was on TV", etc.

The editorial by the publisher generally is about his latest aquisition, followed by some subscription "special" or an upcoming Buyer's Guide, which is nothing more than unedited manufacturer's press releases. ZZzz.

Tough to find a decent rag nowadays that lean toward Harley. A friend gives me his copies of Hot Bike and they are better than most.

Especially since Howard Kelly left a few years ago. It was the same magazine every month, edited by a guy who hated choppers/custom bikes.

I like AIM, learn a lot as I'm new to HD ownership. But kinda pissed-tried to get their subscription with two gift subscriptions for $24 more and they screwed it up! That's 3 subs they lost.

Did Easyrider for years untill their feature bikes started looking like a circus act. Now I read American Bagger for streetglide stuff and for my shovelheads I read Greasy Kulture, The horse back street choppers or Dice. Some American iron too.
