Regulator and Stator
#2
Go back with an HD stator but try to find one on ebay. You will pay about half as much as the dealer is asking.

If you have added, (or plan on adding) extra electrical load such as heated gear, grips, seat, stereo amp or many lights. Consider going with a high output stator.

Don't know if this is typical or not, but on my old FXR the original regulator crapped out at 18K and I replaced it with an Accel unit. At 37K the stator went out and was replaced with HD parts. Then at 77K the alt/stator was replaced again with HD parts, and at the same time I replaced the Accel regulator with an HD unit just for good measure. All was still working when I let go of the bike at 96K. No complaints, as I accept the fact that a 2-wheeler is going to be a little harder to maintain than a 4-wheeler. Hope to enjoy same length of service on my F-Bob.

I have an Accel stator in my ride with no problems. You have to look at all aspects, not just part quality.
if your bike has crap wiring & continually draws power, that your stator is working more than it should. If your battery is not designed for your bikes requirements or is weak, your stator will work more than it should.
dirty oil in your primary might build up with acidic values which could wear down the protective clear coat on your stator windings.
All little things but they could add up to early retirement for your electrical system!
