pricing on new hd's

Depends on what their sales have been like. They have targets they try and hit every month and chances are if they aren't hitting their numbers they would probably more prone to deal at the end of the month.

Prices are so low on used bikes, you could literally buy 2 used bikes for the price of a new one if you shop around ...just saying.

Best to start w/HD's website so you can check MSRP on particular make/models. Then use KBB to validate & between the two you'll have some solid #'s to work with. Now, there are other factors involved that can aid/hinder (i.e. prior yr bikes, high sales flux, funding, economy, etc.). Best to narrow down the bike(s) you're interested in & go visit some dealers...see which one gives best deal. Good luck!

paid list for mine, but got a better deal on the trade in, than others offered. i could have haggled i suppose, but i was happy with the deal, and the discount off the extras. if the dealer looks after me, i will go back. if not, i will go elsewhere. as the local triumph dealer has found out to his cost.

I Believe that all dealers have to charge the same price on a new bike. They use to call it a "Fair Trade Item" not sure what it is now. They may work with you on a trade or offers incentives like free1K service discount on accessories etc. I know I'll get a lot of flack about this but so be it.

thanks for all the input guys...so far i went to two dealers and they both told me on NEW BIKES they cant do much of a break. I guess ill jus do some emails saying this dealer can do so and so...can u do better??? lets see where that leads me

I emailed all dealers in a 200 mile range and asked for the best "out the door" price on the bike I wanted with extras. I got a pretty good amount of interest with a few who would deal and some who would not. The best deal came, and another guy said, "I'll beat the best price you get". Lucky for me, the last guy was the closest. The whole emailing thing lasted about a week. I also got the dealer invoice on the model, but that really does not work with negotiations. All I can say is don't pay MSRP.

You're in the UK right?
Dealers always say there are no deals on new bikes.
Bullshit! Harleys have good money in them, much better than jap stuff where the dealer has to rely on bonuses relating to volume.
If its a big twin you can assume there is 2k mark up on it.
No that doesn't take into account pdi, 1st service, road tax etc but as long as its not a hard to get model there has got to be room to move.
Forget emails, real customers are on the shop floor with a deposit in hand.
Don't expect them to just roll over, you gotta work for your savings.
If he won't get close to your deal get up and go to the next dealer next weekend.

+1 In Aug. 2010 I got a new 2010 Heritage Classic for $1500 under sticker with no freight and set up and that was a dealer trade. They threw in 1K service and gave me 15% off accessories for a year. Had to go an hours drive out of town (Electric City HD in Scranton PA) because local dealer (Southern Tier HD in Binghamton, NY) would not budge on price, wanted 1K service money up front and 10% off for a year.
